In following this tutorial, you would be able to make the text elements stand out with just a few quick steps. While designing images with text elements, flat text makes the image appear rather dull and uninteresting.
A subtle reflection of the text goes a long way into attracting attention at that portion while adding flavor to the design. In this tutorial, you will learn how to do just that in simple steps that even a beginner at Photoshop can accomplish with the greatest of ease.
In this tutorial, the steps are easy to comprehend and quick to execute. The procedure’s versatility would allow you to substitute any font of any color, thus enabling you to create inviting web graphics.
Step 1: Open a new Photoshop document (Ctrl + N or Cmd + N) of your preferred size. I chose 1024×768 with a white background.
Step 2: Choose the Gradient Tool and select the gradient Black to Transparent. Now create a gradient from the top-left corner of the canvas to the middle.
Step 3: Repeat the gradient fill on the other corners till you get the following image.
Step 4: Choose the text tool. Select your favorite font and color and write your preferred text.
Step 5: Select the Text layer and duplicate it (RightClick-Duplicate / Ctrl + J / Cmd + J). Drag the text layer exactly below the original layer.
Step 6: Right click the duplicate layer and choose “Rasterize Layer”.
Step 7: Goto Edit – transform – flip vertical.
Step 8: Now choose the Rectangular Marquee tool and set Feather to 12. Click and drag over your inverted text as shown.
Step 9: Now press backspace to erase the selected text.
Step 10: Set the layer opacity to 35%
Your text now has an amazing reflection in just 10 simple steps! Hope you found the tutorial easy.
