Some people still use the basic backgrounds provided by Twitter.  You can have a more personalized look without spending much time.  In just a few minutes to can change from the boring to beautiful.

If you Google something like “free Twitter backgrounds”, you will most likely pull up websites that give you what you want, but do not offer any tweaks or edits.  Some even require you to login and tweet that you are using their standard background.

We found a site Free Twitter Designer allowing you to select from 12 backgrounds, make edits by adding shapes, images and/ or text, then you can save to your computer or let them upload to your Twitter account.  If you are the type that does not like to trust a site with your password the process is quite simple.

After you select which background you want, you will be brought to an area where several edits can be made.  Click on ‘Generate Image’ to complete.

In this particular case, I have chosen to upload the background myself to twitter and I made no edits.  Click on ‘save image’ to save to your computer.

Image is saved as ‘all files’ by default.

Now you can login to your Twitter Account and follow the instructions shown.

Click on ‘change background image’ then select the file then press open.

Your background image is ready to be uploaded to your Twitter profile.  Hit ‘save changes’.

Now you want to make sure all colors are the same.  Click the tab that says, ‘Change design colors”

If you used the default background image, the code will be ‘a9d2e8′.  Select the ‘background box on the left side and type or paste if you copied the color code into the area provide.  Hit ‘done’ when you are finished.  Save your changes and you are finished.

There are many things you can do to spruce up your Twitter profile.  Adding a simple background like this one will take about 2-3 minutes depending on your connection speed.
