Everyone uses Photoshop to manipulate their images, right? With the popular freeware alternative of GIMP, you can carry out just about the same tasks as the expensive Adobe software. Editing/creating images often includes the use of brushes, which are essentially pre-made stamps for the image editing programs. Here, we’re offering you a selection of useful grunge brushes made just for GIMP, so you can do your own web design and graphic design projects on the cheap.
GIMP has its own set of acceptable file types for custom brushes, which are the .gih, .vbr, and .gbr extensions. To install the brush sets that you decide to download, simple head to your GIMP program folder, open up “share,” “gimp,” 2.0,” and finally “brushes.” To get to the folder, it will look like this: “c:\program files\gimp-2.0\share\gimp\2.0\brushes. Once this folder is open, unzip the files and drag the selected brush files to the “brushes” folder.
To download these brush sets, please click on the respective sources beneath each of the images. All brushes are property of their creators and subject to the usage specified on the source site.
