The Best HDR Photographs of 2009

HDR photography has been popular around the web for a few years now. Every day, hundreds of people upload their HDR photos, whether original or digitally modified, in hopes of having a part in this trend. Only a few can be the best, and sorting through the bunch to find the best isn’t an easy job. There are always differing opinions on what looks great, as beauty is in the eyes and mind of the beholder.

We’ve found a handful of exceptional examples of HDR and HDR-ish photographs for your viewing pleasure. To enjoy an image in its full size and quality, please don’t forget to visit the photographers’ websites by clicking on the image(s) that catch your eyes the most.

If you know of, or have your own, HDR photos that should be up here, let us know in the comment section.
Here is the Best of 2009 in HDR Photography. Enjoy.

Great collection of HDR photos here, it's good to see they're quite varied too! Might I suggest an addition of one of my own? If it meets your standards of course!

Perhaps it may be prudent to mention that one should actually READ what the writer has written at the beginning of the post. These photos are both HDR and "HDR-ish" (which one would only assume that it is an HDR inspired effect that has been applied). Nice work .. I personally love the many boats on the reflective water.
  • I don't like overly done HDR, like most of the ones in this series. Most of these here do have some good composition and subject matter, it's just way over done and painting like IMHO. I prefer an HDR photo where you can't really tell it was HDR, personally.
  • In the end, it definitely comes down to personal taste in regards to what may be considered the "best" photograph or other piece of art. What's great, though, is that we've given a sample of both true HDR photos and their digitally-edited counterparts. HDR can be inspiring for those looking to arouse their more creative side.

You've got some really beautiful pics up here, I'd so like to have the money to buy a good camera and learn how to do such amazing photography myself. :)
  • very nice - one image is on it's side though - you can tell by the horizontal trees :)
  • poppy
thats the way it should be, lovely innit
  • Good eye! It almost looks like a beautiful pool of reflective water :). We're going to leave the orientation as it is, though, as that is how the photographer had intended it to be viewed. Thanks for pointing that one out, though!

  • "The Boat" is an example of some very beautiful photography and technique. It just goes to show that you don't need Photoshop to make a gorgeous picture when you use the right lens and filters.
  • Awesome collection! Thanks for sharing :)
