Perfectly Sized Wallpapers to Fit Your Android Phone

A great feature of an Android platform for cellphones is the ability to scroll through three screens. That means there are three different sections in which to put folders and quick links to applications. But what does that mean for your background image? Finding a wallpaper that looks good across three panels without getting pixelated and still having a sense of style is not always easy. We’ve taken care of that for you.

These wallpapers are optimized to fit the G1 phone perfectly, but should also work well for other Android enabled mobile phones. The screen of the G1 is 480×320, but with all three screens taken into consideration, a background image should be sized to fit 960×320.

To download the full-size wallpaper, click on the image itself. The image source is available underneath each of the photographs, should you desire to see what else the original website and/or photographer has to offer.

Just throwing it out there - Android screens on the G1 and MyTouch actually have 3 screens but the wallpaper stretches across 2 screens. The icons do not move at the same speed as the wallpaper when you scroll the 3 screens. It's actually kinda pretty.

Also - the screen is 480x320, and the screen scrolls in such a way that the 480 remains static and the 320 moves. Thus, it's a 640x480 that we need. This was a convenient and smart design solution by the Android dev team, don't you think, given the quantity of wallpapers in this resolution and aspect ratio? Also the Android gallery allows for resizing of the images as you set them as a wallpaper, so you can crop as much as you need.

Let me know if I'm mistaken.

Those are some pretty images, love them!
  • From the post's author: "Thanks, Rehan, for pointing that out. I am definitely not a technical person when it comes to these things. However, I've found that this size in particular works the best for me in having the perfect background for my G1. But I'm always open to suggestions and will try out the 640x480, as you have suggested."
