Modern interior design has developed extremely creative items. Every home item has infinite design possibilities, from elegance to simplicity to practicality.
Bookshelves is one of those items. With more and more people populating cities and with home room ongoing reduction, bookshelves could be seen as dispensable.
However, interior designers have managed to create alternative bookshelves that combine different furnishings and that do not need installation.
The “integrated” bookshelves you are about to see definitively display creativity in favor of practicality.
S/Cultura Luminosa
This shelves, designed by Italian designer Bruno Petronzi, are not only funny because of its human form. They are also very useful if we have to decide either to place a lamp or a bookshelf in out tiny room.
Bed-Bookshelf
Technically, this is not an item, but an idea that exists out there.
It is was called “Raised Bed with Expedit Bookshelves for Storage” and can be constructed by the user with Ikea’s products. You can find the instructions if you click on the image.
Bath-Tube with Book Storage
Designer Antonio Lupi wanted to give reading fans a rest.
It is known that people love to read in the restroom, so having a mini-bookshelf inside that room is excellent, especially if it does not take space!
Reading-Chair Bookshelf

Isn’t it cute?
Cell Reading Bookshelf
Inspired by the form of a cell, this bookshelf is ideal for lazy people. Just sit down, stretch your arm to get a book from the shelf and sit back.
You don’t need to bring a lamp – it’s built-in!
Bench-Bookshelf
Similar but simpler idea than the previous one – a bench with built-in bookshelf.
Table-Bookshelf
If you are not so much lazy to get the bench or the Cell Reading Bookshelve, you can stretch you body up to the table and catch a book from there.
Be careful! Don’t shed the coffee on the books!
Broken Bookshelf
This is another option to get the books without standing up, because yourself are inside the piece of furniture.
You won’t be able to open several books on the desk, but you can quickly catch them from the shelve as a compensation.
This bookshelf door is a little Anna Frank-reminding. However, it is a nice option to separate rooms if you need special privacy… and access to books!
Book-desk
I don’t see how this could fit a house, but it’s rather more compatible to an office… A special office that you want to make look… different.
