10 Out-of-the-Box Wedding Invitation Designs

I remember when my parents got wedding invitation cards. They were so formal and boring! All of them were in 19th Century traditional style.

Today, wedding invitation design is an art. Young people of the 21st Century want to show how cool, funny and fresh they are. Modern wedding invitations are, then, a creativity spot.

Some days ago, “Manz” a.k.a. Amanda of GritFX commented on 10 Unforgettable Interactive and Inspirational Business Cards that “only a handful of lucky designers get the opportunity to go crazy with ideas”. She was right. Many people still stick to traditional and formal designs, and that’s OK. But there are “a handful of lucky designers” out there who “get the opportunity to go crazy with ideas”. Also in wedding invitations.

To see these invitations of innovative design in their original web location, please click on the respective images to be directed to the source.

Le Paperie

Le Paperie has created an invitation that consists of a ring box. Inside it has a paper “ring”. Unwrap the “ring” and you read the invitation to the wedding.

Eco-Paper

There are many eco-friendly wedding invitations. What I like about this one is its rustic style. It is made with recycled paper it doesn’t try to hide it. At the same time it keeps its elegance.

Cartoon

This customizable Zazzle card has cartoon and animé motives. It is fine and funny at a time.

Message in a Bottle

Guess if you use it, the couple MUST get in the party room with a Police’s song.

Tropical

This tropical set of invitation cards is just for the most adventurous and least formal. It is ideal for couples who want to get marry on the beach.

When folded, the bride’s and groom’s first names are printed on the front, while their choice of quote are printed on the inside left. The note “See you there!” is printed on the back.

For the Visually Impaired

What’s cool of this invitation is its map. The sheet is perforated with small holes, which, I guess, makes the map readable for blind people. Handicapped people-friendly. Great idea!

Scottish on Skates

What to say? The couple that ordered this invite is certainly informal. Especially the groom!

I think this is one of the most beautiful invites of the series. The graphics are clean, modern and attractive. It makes the couple clearly identifiable though introducing them into the magic marriage world. My blessings to the designer, er, and to you guys, congrats!

Tri-Fold

What do you think is better, color or black & white?

Cartoon Strip

Would you believe if I told you this guy made an entire cartoon strip in the inner part? If don’t, click on the image and see…

Passport to Happiness

You may say that this kind of invitations is so outdated. You are right. However, I don’t know how the designer made it and caught my attention. The graphics are so clean and friendly, and colors so powerful…

This is it. As said, wedding invitations are a flourish field for creativity. This is a tiny sample of the great things you can find out there.

And if you are a couple searching for wedding invitation designs, I hope I have helped you. If you don’t find here your style, don’t give up. The web is full of options and I am sure you will find exactly what fits you. And by the way, congratulations!
